How it works

We’ll take you through the process of designing your own special piece of jewelry step by step, offering knowledge, expertise and advice throughout. Whether you’re after an engagement ring, birthday present, or gift to yourself, we’ll start with a simple conversation.

We’ll find out what you’re looking for – don’t worry if you’re not sure, we’ll help with that, too – talk about what you like and don’t like, which gemstones or diamonds work best, and choose metals to suit the design.

It’s a lovely process and we look forward to helping you create a piece of bespoke jewelry that you or your loved one will cherish for a lifetime.

Part One

Getting to know you

Our first chat is to get to know you a little, and find out what you’re looking for. We’ll ask about the kind of jewelry you like and dislike, discuss timescales, budget, how the process works, and any other thoughts and questions you may have. We can help you formulate your ideas, too.

Part Two

Design

This is the creative part. We transform ideas from the consultation into a detailed presentation with mood boards, showcasing different designs to appeal to your style. We also share our diamond and gemstone expertise with you to help you make a decision. We’ll talk approximate costing, too.

Part Three

Selection

Once you have had time to browse the presentation and mood boards, we will discuss the characteristics of each piece, allowing you to examine your choices and tell us what you like and what you don’t. Together, we’ll choose the winning design – always an exciting moment – and finalize adjustments and personalization options.

Part Four

Craft

Once you’ve selected your final design, we source the stones and begin to make your jewelry, closely overseen by our qualified diamond and gemstone experts. They live and breathe fine jewelry and will ensure your tailor-made jewelry design is carefully sourced and perfectly crafted.

Part Five

Unveiling

Once your bespoke jewelry has arrived back at Alicia J HQ, we run a final quality check and ensure it is beautifully boxed and packaged – complete with accredited diamond or gemstone reports and care instructions – before sending to you to enjoy forever.

Part Six

Valuation

We provide every customer with a complimentary valuation from a recognized and licensed jewelry professional in the UK, plus relevant gemstone reports and care instructions. An added Alicia J benefit is that our valuations tend to be higher than the purchase price, as we have lower operational costs than many other jewelers.
